AUTHOR VISITS
One of Christina’s favorite things about being an author is speaking to students. Schools may contact her directly through this website to receive more information on arranging a traditional in-person author visit for their school or about organizing a virtual visit via Skype. All visits can be done in English or Spanish!
In-person Author Visit Information:
“Follow Your Dreams”
A 45-60 minute general audience presentation on my road to becoming an author, finding inspiration, and an overview of my novels, The Red Umbrella and A Thunderous Whisper.
Note: A discounted rate is also offered for schools that use, The Red Umbrella or A Thunderous Whisper, as part of their required reading.
“Historical Fiction That Hits Home”
A 45- 60 minute presentation on how multicultural books remind us of the importance of learning about own unique family history and how different heritages contribute to the American melting pot.
“How Can I Become An Author?”
A thirty (30) minute informative presentation for teachers/faculty interested in pursuing a writing career with an optional question and answer period. This can be arranged during the teachers’ lunch period.
Cost:
In-person Author Visit:
A typical in-person school visit is comprised of up to three presentations and can be tailored (to some degree) to the needs of the school. Cost per school visits for the 2011-2012 school year are as follows:
$500 for schools which do not require an overnight stay (Christina is based out of Miami, Florida)
$750 for schools requiring an overnight stay (Christina is not responsible for travel & lodging)
Note: A discounted rate is also offered for schools that use, The Red Umbrella, as part of their required reading.
Virtual Visit via Skype:
Virtual visits via Skype are also offered to schools. The only requirement is that all students must have read at least 3 chapters of The Red Umbrella or A Thunderous Whisper to facilitate the discussion of the book.
