School visits:
“General Author Visit and Book Presentation” – A 45-60 minute general audience presentation on my road to becoming an author, what happens after you write your book, and an overview of my novel, The Red Umbrella.
“Creative Classroom” - A 45-60 minute fun and relaxed classroom presentation discussing the importance of first drafts and constructive criticism. Students will take part in creative writing exercises where the class as a whole will develop their own unique short story. Utilizing collaborative efforts, students will come up with main characters, visual details and plot lines that will resonate with other readers their own age. Groups will be encouraged to share their stories with other classes to receive feedback on what they created. This presentation is geared toward students in 5th -12th grade and is for groups of no more than 35.
“How Can I Become An Author?” – A thirty (30) minute informative presentation for teachers/faculty interested in pursuing a writing career with an optional question and answer period. This can be arranged during the teachers’ lunch period.
Cost: A typical school visit is comprised of four of the above presentations. Cost per school visit is $500. However, based upon my commitment to education, I will be able to donate a few of my visits annually. Please contact me early, as there are a limited number of requests that I can accept. Also, schools that have placed my novel, The Red Umbrella, on their required reading list can contact me for a discounted rate.
Note: Travel costs are additional if outside the South Florida area, however schools are encouraged to coordinate with other schools/libraries/organizations to share in these costs. Reducing/increasing the number of presentations is also an option and costs will be modified accordingly.
